Onlyonly studio creates multi-layered design projects and spatial experiences that draw inspiration from contemporary culture. Their latest creation is Daydreamer, a conceptual chaise longue that invites the user to briefly disconnect from the world. Until March 16, the piece can be seen at the Collectible design fair in Brussels, where Daydreamer is part of a group exhibition at the Spazio Viruly gallery. In the Nice Touch section, architect and designer Harijs Vucens, one of the founders of Onlyonly, talks about an app that helps him collect his thoughts while working on projects.

Nice Touch Editorial March 14, 2025

«In my day-to-day, I write a lot, reflect, and structure this information. Before each project, I write down reflections, possible scenarios, and stumbling blocks. This gives me a basis and clarity for moving forward. As I like to be mobile and use technology, my go-to for writing is the digital note-taking tool Tana, which is a bridge between my creative (sometimes chaotic) and systematic side.

The app can serve as both a private diary and a shared platform where texts and projects can be created, stored, and reviewed by everyone involved. For me, particularly valuable is the ability to record audio messages that are automatically converted into text. The best ideas and insights often come to me on long walks around the city when I’m out on the streets with my headphones on, «talking to myself». And when I get back to the office, everything I’ve said is neatly available in text format. Notebooks tend to get lost and crumpled, but in a digital environment, notes, texts, and information remain.»

Harijs Vucens is an architect and designer who, together with Anna Līva Traumane, runs the design studio Onlyonly. They create interdisciplinary, radical projects that enrich the human experience, incorporating ideas from contemporary culture, fashion, art, photography, and set design.

Onlyonly’s latest work is a speculative design piece, the Daydreamer chaise longue, whose shape places the user in a position that heightens a sense of presence and body awareness. Until March 16, Daydreamer is on show at the Spazio Viruly gallery in Brussels as part of the unique design fair Collectible.
