The studio Associates, Partners et Sons, founded by designer Edgars Zvirgzdiņš, has just turned 13 years old. In addition to graphic design and branding, Edgars also works in the field of product design and is co-founder of the loudspeaker brand Aretai. Several of his projects have received both national and international design awards, and this year Edgars chairs the jury for the National Design Award of Latvia 2024 in the Product Design category. In the Nice Touch section, Edgars recommends a way to gain some additional knowledge on a daily basis.
«My new favourite thing is the Audible subscription. It includes one audiobook a month, and it’s a good way to get lazy readers to at least listen to books, if not read them. It was a bit weird at first because I missed the physical format of the books and had to figure out what speed was best to listen to them at (1x, or 1.3x if you have to go somewhere in a hurry). Sometimes the pleasure of the book is spoiled by the authors’ desire to record the book themselves in an overly theatrical manner, but the benefit of being able to rest my eyes from looking at a screen or paper outweighs all the disadvantages.»
Edgars Zvirgzdiņš’ design studio Associates, Partners et Sons creates compelling and memorable graphic design. In 2018, the visual identity for the Riga International Film Festival (Riga IFF) received the Grand Prix of the National Design Award of Latvia. And in 2022, the Aretai loudspeakers won the prestigious Red Dot Award.
