Five emerging Latvian design studios have jointly created a unified platform for interior and environmental designers. Home Ground not only serves as a stage for presenting the latest design trends and works but also provides more opportunities to purchase unique Latvian design objects. To celebrate the launch of the platform, Home Ground is presenting an exhibition at Sporta 2 quarter in Riga until August 31.

The exhibition brings together unique design works from the creators of Home GroundStudio Sija, Onlyonly, Gateris Works, Dace Sūna and Anna Priede. In total, the exhibition in the Sporta 2 quarter features 17 design objects, which every enthusiast of design and art is invited to see in person until August 31. The design objects will be available for purchase not only in person but also on Home Ground’s Instagram account. More Latvian designers are invited to join the platform in the future.

The platform gives emerging designers the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience, to make important contacts and collaborations with other industry professionals, and to get closer to design consumers. Similar platforms have already proven their effectiveness in European countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, whose designers are world-renowned and well-known in the field. As the creators of Home Ground point out, Western countries have funds, scholarships, and government support available to designers, giving young professionals the opportunity to initially develop themselves and gain international recognition and financial stability. Home Ground wants to start building this path more smoothly in Latvia and aims to become a community for young designers by jointly participating in international design exhibitions in the future, thus potentially reducing the cost of participation.

“We believe that this initiative is important for the development of Latvian design and creative entrepreneurship, providing both established and emerging talents with the necessary support and visibility. It also makes the work of Latvian designers more accessible for every enthusiast of unique design,» say Kristiāna Erta and Artūrs Tols, designers at architecture studio Sija and one of the creators of the platform.

Before the closing of the Home Ground exhibition, on August 30 at 19.00, Studio Talks will be hosted at Sporta iela 2, where the founders of the platform will introduce themselves, share their creative journeys, reveal their sources of inspiration, and discuss the latest design trends. Everyone is invited to the event, and young designers who would like to join the Home Ground platform are especially encouraged to attend.
