Latvian hammock producer Modern Nomad has teamed up with the famous fashion house Dior to produce the hammock featured in Dior’s latest collection of beachwear and accessories. Combining the practicality, lightness, and durability of Modern Nomad products with Dior’s aesthetic, the hammock is designed for a relaxing and chic outdoor experience while also using sustainable materials.
The hammock produced by Modern Nomad is part of the Dior Beach Capsule Collection 2024 for men by designer Kim Jones, created in collaboration with the environmental organisation Parley for the Oceans. The hammock uses light blue technical fabric with the Dior Oblique motif, made from recycled ocean plastic waste and discarded fishing nets collected from coasts and islands around the world. The hammock is lightweight, easy to pack and carry, can be effortlessly suspended between two vertical supports, and the suspension system is designed with stability and comfortable sleeping in mind.
«The world-famous Dior brand and Modern Nomad have come together to promote active lifestyles and respect for nature. For us, this collaboration is a testament to excellence in everything — in the design, technology, and quality of our hammocks. We are delighted with this partnership and the experience we have gained,» says Krišjānis Eihmanis, one of the founders of Modern Nomad.
The hammocks designed by Dior and Modern Nomad went on sale on May 16 in more than 17 countries around the world and are labelled Made by Modern Nomad. Jānis Kļaviņš, the other founder of Modern Nomad, emphasises that the new cooperation will contribute to the growth of the company: «Such achievements help open export doors to new countries. We are active in the Baltics and Scandinavia, and our hammocks have gone to customers even further abroad, to Argentina, New Zealand, and the Philippines. Dior’s recognition encourages us to reach new and bold goals.»
Modern Nomad is a manufacturer of active and healthy lifestyle products, founded in 2020. The outdoor lifestyle of the company’s owners, Jānis Kļaviņš and Krišjānis Eihmanis, motivated them to create hiking equipment such as hammocks, tents, and various accessories that are lightweight, quick to set up, and durable. All products are made in Latvia. The incubation programme provided by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia has been instrumental in the development of the company, helping to boost sales in export markets.
