The young designer and artist Reinis Lodziņš uses his creative skills in a wide range — from digital design to audio installations and DJing. A font that allows you to draw urban landscapes or a seemingly random sequence of letters that reveals phonetic poetry — despite the diversity of Reinis’s works, they are all united by his interest in the artistic potential of the technical structure of the medium used. In the Nice Touch column, Reinis shares a thing that makes his day-to-day life more melodious.

«A feature that has brought me a lot of joy is the computer’s built-in speakers. While the sound quality might be questionable, they do the job well, and the charm of these speakers is that they’re just right there in front of me. Working is much better when there is something playing in the background. Every once in a while, I end up being the last one in the office, but I never get lonely. Perhaps this desire for a personal disco is explained by the fact that I am part of a generation that has grown up with the Internet, and therefore I feel uncomfortable if something is not babbling in the background.»
