Approaching the celebration of Midsummer’s Eve, vibrant festive posters featuring flower photographs by the photographer Jūlija Sinka have popped up all over the city. May the Whole World Bloom! is the latest campaign of the municipality, but certainly not the first under the supervision of Dārta Apsīte, the Head of the Brand and Communication Department of the Riga City Council. In the Nice Touch column, Dārta reveals her recipe for a great start to the day.

«I find it extremely difficult to wake up in the mornings. Even if I manage to open my eyes and get out of bed, my mind needs a few more hours to fully function. But those are precious hours of my day! That’s why I started looking for ways to speed up the waking process. My current «holy trinity» throughout the year is quite simple: a run, a swim, and an egg. No matter how challenging it may be, I jump straight out of bed in my sportswear and head out to run to the Daugava River for a swim (how wonderful that you can swim in the city centre). Experiencing the sunrise while the city is still asleep is a breathtaking feeling. And nothing brings me more joy than a breakfast egg afterwards. And so, a new day begins!»
